Municipal Winemakers OPEN NEW TASTING ROOM

Grand Opening celebration September 10th 12 - 4 pm
22 Anacapa Street
Santa Barbara

After a successful first year becoming one of the most popular stops on the Santa Barbara Urban Wine Trail, Municipal Winemakers have announced the move of their Santa Barbara tasting room.

The new tasting room is located at 22 Anacapa Street, just next door to its former home. Muni has taken over the shopfront of the Anacapa Dive Center building, only a couple hundred yards from the beach. Visitors are rewarded with a rich tasting experience where wine is demystified through friendliness and education.

An industrial building with a concrete floor and tin roof house old office furniture and found objects that have been repurposed and recycled as functional design. Highlights include: giant barn doors that swing open to usher in sunlight and the sea breeze; a private tasting room for more intimate wine tastings; and community seating on an outdoor patio with a view of Stern’s Wharf. The two parking spots in the front will accommodate a rotating selection of Food Trucks.

Business hours have been extended to 11 pm on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, providing an alternative to State Street for an evening glass of wine. The best part, however, is the lineup of reasonably priced, delicious wines that represent some of the best values in Santa Barbara County.

Municipal Winemakers challenge the traditional idea that fine wine is of privilege. They work hard to reconcile the reality that wine is a social beverage by taking a light-hearted approach to its presentation. Wine Spectator has remarked, “Municipal Winemakers takes all possible pretense out of labeling wine.” All the while, Muni remains seriously meticulous about the craft of winemaking.

Current releases include the crisp, fresh and minerally dry Riesling called Bright White, a spicy, savory Cotes du Rhone inspired blend of Grenache, Cinsault and Syrah called Bright Red, and their latest release is rich, concentrated blend of Cabernet and Syrah called Dark Red.

Municipal Winemakers is a small production winery that has been producing honest wines since 2007. The philosophy is to craft small-lot, highest quality wines by sourcing grapes from special vineyards in Santa Barbara County and drawing on winemaking experiences in Australia, France, and California. Muni Wines balance old-world personality and elegance with the vibrancy and intensity of modern wine styles.

Muni is owned and operated by one person, David Potter, who is also a member of the winemaking team at Fess Parker Winery and Epiphany Cellars.

The Grand Opening celebration on September 10th will run from 12 to 4 pm. For an admission price of $20, the event will feature wines paired with tunes from Warbler Records and gourmet food from C’est Cheese.
