Harvest can be pretty hectic. When the fruit is close to ready, sitting on the vine and a heat wave comes, it is a real scramble to get the grapes into the winery as quickly as possible. This can be a real challenge when your tanks are already full of fermenting wine. It is even more of a challenge when your winery has collapsed due to a freak accident! About half a million litres of wine flooded the floor and a 25 year old cellar hand was seriously injured when 10 x 45,000 litre tanks collapsed at a McLaren Vale winery is South Australia. The story is here. Some photos sent to me by me mate nick are here.
