Grenache Blanc is a mutant. It originated as a mutation of the red version - Grenache, which did not express its gene for color formation in the skins. Grenache (noir) is one of the most widely planted winegrapes on earth. Like it's brother, the vines are big and beefy, and need a long growing season to get fully ripe. It can range in style from crisp and aromatic to rich and oily - depending on climate and harvest decision.
